The Search Engine ( for Altec User's Board ) is Broken
As mentioned previously ( in the Forum Lives thread ) ;
- The search engine for this forum does not work properly . Hopefully it'll get fixed at some point .
- More specifically, all posts from the time period from late 2008 to mid-May 2011 are in a "black-hole" at this point in time and are not searchable/findable .
- Simply put , if one uses the Advanced Search function ( for this forum ) and asks to see all posts ( shown as posts ) from a specific member ( say "GM", or "bfish", or "old guy" , or "RonSSS", etc. ) one will soon find this blacked-out time period .
- The same applies if one asks to see all threads started by a specific member // though if that old thread has had a recent post ( posted after "the site conversion" ) , it'll show up in a search .

Again please let me know if this is consistent/correct or if I need to go through a second rebuild.

Steven GM joined this forum back in 2002 IIRC and has thousands of posts 2400 or more I'm quite sure. 1 of 6 something is wrong !
I just searched all posts made by me.
Results: I get 1of 10 that goes back 4 days ! :-(

No problem at all. It is information like this that let me know we need to go and update the counters manually as the automated process skipped something. Will get on this this afternoon and let you know once were done.

Re: The Search Engine ( for Altec User's Board ) is Broken
Steven and aellis---I've noticed that the Altec User's Board has lost the location information for (all of?) its members. I checked my own profile and my location info is not there any more--it used to say "Upstate New York" for me and that info has been erased. I know that members can re-enter their profile info including their location, but almost no one (including myself) has done that. Can you retrieve all of our info from before you did the switch to the new system? I see that with some members (who have apparently re-entered their location into their profile after the switch to the new system) their location still shows when they submit a post (under their join date and above their number of posts), but with most of us the location info is gone. Personally, I used to like to see who was a "neighbor" in New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, Ohio, etc. and who was in "Altec Country" (Oklahoma, Southern California, etc.) and who was overseas (Australia, etc.)..... Not to mention, if a member saw a deal on some Altecs on Ebay or CL in a certain location we could post that there were some nice looking Altecs available in South Carolina (for example) for our South Carolina members (since we could see we had some members in that location). It would be appreciated if you can recover all of the info that we took the time to enter into the old system. We have a lot of members who only visit once in a while who may not notice their info has been erased (and therefore may never realize that it can be re-entered) so if you can just recover our lost/erased info everything will be restored to the way everyone originally intended for it to be entered..... Not to mention that when we use the search feature to find old/historic threads and posts, there are many posts from people who no longer visit here (or are deceased, etc.) and if they originally (entered and) intended their location to accompany their posts, their location should still show with those historic posts and the only way for that to happen is if you recover all of our erased info. BTW, the new system seems to be working great -- I'm not just a critic--you deserve a thumbs up on what was (I'm sure) a difficult transition...... I just thought it was important to recover everyone's lost/erased info, especially (important) for those who are unable to re-enter it. I'm sure it must be stored in the backups you've done......
